Ebooks - Collaborative Storytelling

A colleague shared this amazing site with me http://storybird.com/
The students love this site as it is engaging, easy to use and can be utilized across all KLA’s. I particularly like it because the students can collaborate together, it can be easily differentiated across my class (especially in literacy) and the students need to rate their ebooks according to their target audience. Recently the students created a factual recount on Saint Mary Mackillop which they had to link their writing to visual literacy. It was challenging their writing skills (especially editing) and how well they could link their story with an image. The students paste their finished link to their ebook on their weebly site under ‘English’ to gain feedback from their peers and teachers. A great to tool to introduce the concept of ebooks. Next step is to challenge children to create tasks to peer teach each other with ebooks using the ‘target audience’ section. Wish me luck, stay tuned for results!
